The brother of a "Shark Tank" star was among the spate of recent American deaths in the Dominican Republic.
Barbara Corcoran confirmed to TMZ that her 60-year-old brother John died mysteriously in April in his hotel room on the island. His friend was staying in the suite with him and found his body.
A heart attack was ruled as the cause of death, but Corcoran said she is not aware of an autopsy being performed.
John Corcoran has not yet been buried, his sister told TMZ.
There have been six other mysterious American deaths over the last year on the Caribbean island, including three in May at two resorts owned by Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts. The victims died suddenly in most of the deaths, and in many of the cases the victims had consumed alcohol before they died.
In the three most recent deaths, the victims' lungs filled with fluid and they died of respiratory failure.
Other people who visited the island in recent memory have since come forward to say they became ill during their time there but lived to talk about it.
According to NPR, the FBI is now involved.
Fox News reported the Dominican Republic's Tourism Ministry is trying to reassure American tourists the incidents are being taken seriously.
The Dominican Republic got more bad press earlier this week when retired MLB star David Ortiz, a potential Hall of Famer, was shot in an assassination attempt while he was sitting at a nightclub with friends. Ortiz suffered internal damage, underwent surgery on the island, and was transferred to Boston for more treatment.
