5 House Democrats to White House: Seek Obamacare Website Refund

By    |   Monday, 28 October 2013 03:19 PM EDT

The Obama administration should seek refunds from the companies that constructed the malfunctioning Obamacare website, HealthCare.gov, say five Democratic House members.

The five are Reps. Ron Barber, Ariz.; William Enyart, Ill.; Pete Gallego, Texas; Kyrsten Sinema, Ariz., and Filemon Vela, Texas.

"It is no secret that the website has not performed in a satisfactory manner," they wrote in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder that was released Monday and dated last Thursday.

"As a result, we ask that you review the contracts and determine whether CGI Federal and/or any other company involved in the construction of the website has violated the terms of its agreement or is in constructive breach of the contract."

The Justice Department should go for "all remedies up to and including a refund of any and all monies paid to the contractors for a website that doesn't work," the letter says.

"If the government has purchased faulty or defective services, the taxpayers deserve and should demand their money back."
