The Dave Matthews Band says it will perform in North Carolina this weekend — bucking the trend of top acts like Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, and Ringo Starr, Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas who've cancelled their shows to protest the Tar Heel State's "bathroom bill."

The group will play Charlotte's PNC Music Pavilion on Saturday and donate some of the proceeds to the American Civil Liberties Union and gay-rights groups Lambda Legal, Equality NC and Time Out Youth, The Charlotte Observer reported.

Those groups are fighting the recently-enacted House Bill 2 which bans transgender people from using bathrooms corresponding to the gender with which they identify.

Matthews, who supports LGBT rights and same-sex marriage, said in a 2012 interview:
"There's no way that I can figure out that somehow my morality trumps someone else's morality."
