Day-Lewis already is sporting Republican President Abraham Lincoln’s signature beard and hairstyle,
Total Film reported in its posting about photographer Michael Phillips’ picture of the actor dining at a Richmond, Va., restaurant.
In preparation for the role, Day-Lewis recently visited the state where the former president began his political career. Joining him during his tour of historic sites in Springfield, Ill., was Doris Kearns Goodwin, who wrote the book "Team of Rivals," upon which the film is based.
The film also will star Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Robert Todd Lincoln, Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens, and John Hawkes as Robert Latham.
The London-born Day-Lewis is known for his preparation, Total Film reports.
When on the set of “My Left Foot,” the actor refused to leave the wheelchair that his character was confined to. His devotion to detail paid off with an Academy Award for best actor.
