Dakota Meyer, the Marine Corps veteran and husband of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol, caused a stir when he posted an Instagram picture putting on a concealed-carry holster and gun while next to his seven-month-old daughter.
"Carrying has always been important to me for my own safety, but now it is imperative because now I have someone relying on me," Meyer, 28, said in the Tuesday post. "Every day, everywhere I go, every time I carry."
His daughter, Sailor Grace, is seated in a car infant seat on a counter next to Meyer. He is the recipient of the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Ganjgal in Afghanistan in 2009.
Meyer and Palin married in June.
His post has brought more than 2,500 "likes" — with many complimenting his daughter or supporting the gun product — but 33 people bashed him for having the weapon near his daughter to using Instagram to advertise the product.
