Carnival Cruise Lines has been flooded with bookings after announcing it will resume voyages beginning in August with discounts as low as $28 per night.
The cruise line has experienced this surge in business months after an outbreak on its Diamond Princess and Grand Princess ships left more than 800 passengers infected with coronavirus and 10 dead. The outbreaks led Carnival and cruise line Viking to suspend operations in March.
At the time, the CDC also warned U.S. citizens not to take cruises.
"We are taking a measured approach, focusing on the potential for sailing from a select number of homeports where we have more significant operations that are easily accessible by car for the majority of our guests," the company wrote in a press statement.
Carnival's new bump in business represents a 200% increase over last year.
"We continue to work with various government agencies, including the CDC, as we introduce new onboard protocols, but there is no assurance of a return on Aug. 1," the statement said.
