California's Santa Clara County confirmed on Sunday the ninth case of coronavirus in the United States, CNBC reported.
The victim is a woman who was recently in Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the virus, and came to the U.S. to visit family on January 23, according to the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department.
Officials say that, other than going for outpatient medical care twice, the woman has stayed at home since she arrived, according to ABC7News.
The victim has been monitored on a regular basis and was never ill enough to be hospitalized.
The officials said that her family members have also been isolated, with the Public Health Department providing them with food and other necessities.
This is the second case of coronavirus reported in the San Francisco Bay area.
"I understand that people are concerned, but based on what we know today, the risk to general public remains low," Santa Clara County health officer Dr. Sara Cody told ABC7News. "With our large population and the amount of travel to China for both personal and business reasons, we will likely see more cases, including close contacts to our cases."
