Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said his team's Hard Rock Stadium is ready should the NFL give the green light on having a season during the coronavirus pandemic.
"I think there definitely will be a football season this year," Ross told CNBC. "Real question is, will there be fans in the stadium? I think right now — today — we're planning to have fans in the stadium."
“We’re prepared either way, and hopefully there will be fans in the stadiums,” he added.
In early May, Dolphins CEO and President Tom Garfinkel revealed a strategy for how fans could watch games at the stadium. It would admit 15,00 fans who would have to wear masks, use staggered entrances and exits, and order refreshment from their seats.
“But certainly the NFL, I think, will be ready to go,” Ross said. “I know we're all looking forward to it. I know I am."
According to ESPN, Hard Rock is the first public building to receive accreditation from Global Biorisk Advisory Council’s STAR, which grades the quality of cleanliness and ability to prevent infectious diseases at a facility.
NFL teams were allowed to reopen facilities on May 19 if local orders permitted it.
White House coronavirus task force member Anthony Fauci has brought up the possibility of an "inevitable" second wave of coronavirus this fall, which would overlap with the NFL season.
