A new dating service is offering to help Americans find love in Canada if they choose to move north should Donald Trump become president.
Maple Match's website carries the headline, "Make dating great again," a play on Trump's campaign slogan of "Make America Great Again!"
"Maple Match makes it easy for Americans to find the ideal Canadian partner to save them from the unfathomable horror of a Trump presidency," the website reads.
Users are directed to sign up for the waitlist. CEO Joe Goldman told
Global News the site will soon begin to match users.
"As Barack Obama said during [Canadian Prime Minister] Justin Trudeau's official welcoming ceremony at the White House, 'we're two different countries, but we're like one big town,'" Goldman told Global News.
"Our side [of] this 'town' happens to have a megalomaniac trying to seize power, so we're naturally concerned.
"We have seen immense traffic on our site over the last few days, and signups have surpassed our expectations. At this time, we are currently wait listing users and will begin matching as soon as we are able."
A
March Morning Consult/Vox poll found that 15 percent of those surveyed said they were "very likely" to move to Canada if Trump wins the presidency. An additional 12 percent said they were "somewhat likely" to do the same.
