Police in Paradise, Calif., are looking into pressing criminal charges against a cleanup worker who posted "reprehensible" photos of himself and co-workers at destroyed properties, CBS News reports.
The photos, posted by Rob Freestone, include one that shows the remains of a charred cat with a beer bottle placed in its mouth with the caption: "Dude . . . I was just chilling with my homies, having a couple of cold ones, and BAM . . . damn fire breaks out."
In another photo, Freestone is sitting on what appears to be a fire truck mailbox with burned trees in the background: "I got to ride on a fire truck today."
Freestone was a crane operator for Bigge Crane and Rigging Co.
He and two others involved in the incidents were fired after the photos surfaced last month.
"Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. regrets the insensitive and reprehensible actions of Mr. Rob Freestone," the company said in a statement. "Mr. Freestone has been removed from the Camp Fire recovery effort and we are working with International Union of Operating Engineers regarding his actions. Bigge fully supports Paradise and all of Butte County in the effort to recover from the fires and we will continue to do so."
