Actress Jessica Lange reacted to the news that Caitlyn Jenner, the celebrity formerly known as Olympian Bruce Jenner, looks like her by saying, "that's so wonderful."
The 66-year-old actress spoke with
The Daily Beast Monday after Jenner revealed herself on
the cover of Vanity Fair.
When The Daily Beast told Lange she was trending on Twitter because of the similarity between her and Jenner, she wasn't exactly sure what the word "trending" meant. But after a reporter from the website explained it to her, Lange reacted gracefully.
"Oh, really? That's so wonderful. Well, now I'm going to have to look for that picture," Lange said.
"Trending on Twitter because Caitlyn Jenner is on the cover — you see I don't do any of this stuff, the Internet. So I have no clue when people use this terminology. I have to repeat it to understand."
The Daily Beast does point out that Lange's reaction is to the comparison between herself and Jenner, not to Jenner's revealing photo in which she wore a piece of lingerie.
Jenner joined Twitter under a new name, @Caitlyn_Jenner, and Tweeted a photo of the Vanity Fair cover Monday. Four hours after the account was opened, Jenner had reached 1 million followers —
a Guinness World Record.
President Barack Obama
set the previous record of 5 hours last month after he joined the social media network.
Not everyone reacted with support for Jenner, however.
Actor Drake Bell, who starred in Nickelodeon's "Drake & Josh," said on Twitter, "Sorry….still calling you Bruce" on Monday. He soon deleted that tweet and two others in which he tried to provide more support.
