President Donald Trump tweeted on Monday he will "no longer deal" with British Ambassador to the United States, Kim Darroch, who called Trump "inept."
Darroch, in recently leaked emails, described the Trump administration as "inept," and his White House as "dysfunctional."
Trump wrote in a pair of tweets Monday morning:
"I do not know the ambassador, but he is not liked or well thought of within the U.S. We will no longer deal with him."
The leaked documents were published by the Mail on Sunday, and pointed to stress in the "special relationship" between the U.S. and the U.K. that has held strong since World War II.
Although British Prime Minister Theresa May said she did not share Darroch's views of the Trump administration, the president expressed a dim view of her in his tweets.
The president also wrote:
"I have been very critical about the way the U.K. and Prime Minister Theresa May handled Brexit. What a mess she and her representatives have created. I told her how it should be done, but she decided to go another way."
He added:
"The good news for the wonderful United Kingdom is that they will soon have a new Prime Minister. While I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent State Visit last month, it was the Queen who I was most impressed with!"
