Supreme Court Justice-nominee Brett Kavanaugh is going to have a "Clarence Thomas-like moment" in responding to the 11th-hour smear campaigns and "corrupt" tactics of resistance and obstruction by Democrats, The Weekly Standard columnist Jeffrey Lord told Newsmax TV on Monday.
"This process has gone straight down hill since that time, with even Justice [Ruth Bader] Ginsburg – no conservative – [even] she's saying that this process is not acceptable, and I'll go further and say that it's corrupt," the former associate political director during President Ronald Reagan's administration told "America Talks Live."
Lord pointed to past federal judge nomination smear campaigns he had detailed in his book "The Borking Rebellion: The Never-Before-Told Story of How a Group of Pennsylvania Women Attorneys took on the Entire U. S. Senate Judiciary Committee – And Won."
"Their objective here is to so smear Judge Kavanaugh that he'll get out," Lord told hosts Miranda Khan, John Cardillo, and Gina Loudon, adding Kavanaugh is not going to fall for that.

As for the "Clarence Thomas-like moment," Lord says expect "some version of that."
"As you'll recall, Justice Clarence Thomas said that he was the target of a high-profile lynching for uppity blacks," Lord said. "I think that Judge Kavanaugh will give some version of that kind of response."
