Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi on Wednesday accused ex-New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg of having a "weird obsession" with her state after the billionaire offered to pay fines for the state's felons so they can vote.

"He (has tried) to swoop in our state many times," Bondi said on Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "In 2015, he took out $10 million in hit ads against me and fellow other attorneys general. How did that work out for him? Not so great."

Bloomberg's offer to pay the fines came after Gov. Ron DeSantis won a court ruling requiring felons must pay off fines before they are allowed to vote in November.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said Tuesday that Bloomberg may be facing a "criminal investigation" for his offer, because "it's a third-degree felony for someone to either directly or indirectly provide something of value to impact whether or not someone votes."

Bloomberg has also propped up Democrat nominee Joe Biden's campaign through $100 million for advertising in Florida.

"We are ahead in the polls so it's not working out for him either," said Bondi. "The Republican registrations are up higher than they have ever been. We are closer than we have ever been."

Instead, Bloomberg needs to spend his money in his own state of New York, because people are fleeing there, said Bondi, adding that he needs to "tread carefully" on paying off the felons' fines.
