It's clear that Cuba and Russia were somehow involved in the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy, economist Ben Stein said Friday.
Stein appeared on Fox Business Network and was asked about the JFK assassination after the government made public thousands of documents related to the 1963 assassination.
"I don't think [conspiracy theories are] gonna die as long as we have a cowardly CIA and State Department and whoever else is responsible because I think, the bottom line is, here's this guy, Lee Harvey Oswald, he's a communist, he's a sympathizer and a communist, he's an excellent marksman, he has just spent a lot of time in Russia, he married a Russian woman whom people say was his KGB handler, he was in Cuba with the arch hater of Kennedy in the whole world, and then he comes back and he kills Kennedy," Stein said.
"The lines are as clear as day, Cuba and Russia are connected with this in some big way. Somehow we never want to say it."
Stein, the author of the new book, "The Capitalist Code: It Can Save Your Life and Make You Very Rich," later called Oswald "an agent who was ahead of the national communist conspiracy."
Stein also said JFK would not have gotten the United States involved in Vietnam. JFK's Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in as president a little more than two hours after JFK was fatally shot.
