Former President Barack Obama called for "common-sense gun safety laws" in the wake of the mass shooting at a South Florida high school.

Obama’s comments came in a tweet following the murders of 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., on Wednesday.

Nikolas Cruz, 19, was charged with 17 counts of premediated murder after the school tragedy.

Former Vice President Joe Biden also tweeted about the murders, saying he grieves with "the families in Parkland today."
