Former President Barack Obama is joining the Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Maryland, according to Washingtonian magazine.
"Following careful deliberation, the Board of Governors voted to extend an invitation for Honorary Membership to former President of the United States Barack Obama," said a letter sent to members and obtained by Washingtonian. "We have received official word from Mr. Obama of his acceptance of our invitation."
The Hill noted Obama previously had been invited to join Woodmont, a predominantly Jewish country club in Maryland. But the invitation sparked controversy when some members complained about his stance on Israel settlements.
In May, CNN reported Obama had reportedly joined the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia.
