Twitter Explodes Over Obama 'Closest Thing to a Jew' Claim

A social media backlash has hooted and howled at President Barack Obama's odd claim that he's "the closest thing to a Jew that has ever sat in this office."

Still laughing. Obama the closest thing to a Jewish President? He's not even the closest thing to a President President.

Obama adviser David Axelrod revealed the declaration in an interview for Israeli TV, saying the president also said "it hurts" for people to say "that I am anti-Israel, or, even worse, anti-Semitic," the Independent Journal Review notes.

On Twitter, some users seemed to think the statements were absurd.

For example, frequent Newsmax TV guest Larry Elder tweeted concerns about what the claim "even means":

White House press secretary Josh Earnest, meanwhile, supported the claim on Tuesday, saying Obama "does feel that kind of kinship," the Washington Times reports.
