Auditors Warn of Worn Postal Truck Fleet

A new report by U.S. Postal Service's auditors warns that the fleet of delivery trucks is ending its useful life span, according to a story in the Washington Post.

The Postal Service estimates it would cost about $4.2 billion -- or $30,000 per truck -- to replace the fleet.

Meanwhile, Postal officials said they plan to start replacing broken trucks more frequently during the next fiscal year and will remind maintenance staff and district managers to keep costs under control.
