Schwarzenegger: 'The Apprentice' Is Now My Show

NBC's "Today"

Arnold Schwarzenegger is getting set to take over as host for "The New Celebrity Apprentice" and said there will be no interference from President-elect Donald Trump — the man he is replacing on the show.

"I think it's perfectly fine that he has executive producer credit because he created the show with Mark Burnett together, so why should his credit go?" the former California governor told NBC's "Today." "He made it very clear that he has no interest in being involved. It is now my show. I'm the host. I'm the new boss, and I'm going to run this show."

Schwarzenegger said Trump played a big role in getting him on the NBC program, joking: "He was part of the negotiations, so I get millions of dollars for hosting the show, but NBC doesn't have to pay for it — Trump makes Mexico pay for it! I mean, isn't that great?"

Schwarzenegger, a Republican, said he has no concerns working for Trump, despite not having supported his presidential bid.

"Now he's elected, and now it is very important that we all support the president, and that we all come together, and we stop whining, and it becomes one nation," he said.

Schwarzenegger also revealed he is looking at introducing his own catch phrase for the show to replace Trump's "You're fired."

"It could be 'You're terminated.' Or, 'Hasta la vista, baby.' Or 'Hit the road,' or 'Consider this a divorce,' or 'Get to the chopper,'" he said. "It could be anything. It could any of those things."

The Los Angeles Times reported questions involving a possible conflict of interest are being raised for NBC because its news division covers Trump.

It also noted the network's parent company, Comcast Corp., has business pending in Washington and might keep "The Apprentice" on the air for fear of angering the president-elect.
