Schwarzenegger: There Are Not Two Sides to Hatred

(ATTN)

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger jabbed President Donald Trump saying there are not two sides to bigotry or hatred.

The actor's comments came in a video posted online by ATTN and referred to Trump's controversial remarks about both white supremacists and counter-protesters being to blame for violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.

"There are not two sides to bigotry and there are not two sides to hatred," he said. "If you choose to march with the flag that symbolizes the slaughter of millions of people, there are not two sides to that."

Addressing his comments directly to Trump he said:

"The only way to beat the loud and angry voices of hate is to meet them with louder and more reasonable voices, and that includes you, President Trump.

"In fact, as president of this great country, you have a moral responsibility to send an unequivocal message that you won't stand for hate and racism."

At one point, Schwarzenegger suggested Trump give a speech rejecting the support of white supremacists.

Schwarzenegger, looking at a bobblehead doll of the president, asked: "Was it that difficult?"

He then addressed neo-nazis, white nationalists and neo-Confederates.

"Let me be a blunt as possible: "Your heroes are losers," he said. "You are supporting a lost cause."

Schwarzenegger noted he was born in Austria in 1947, shortly after the war.

"Growing up,  I was surrounded by broken men — men who came home from the war filled with shrapnel and guilt, men who were misled into a losing ideology

"And I can tell you: these ghosts that you idolize, spent the rest of their lives living in shame. And right now, they're resting in hell."

He concluded by saying: "Let's all commit, right now to leaving the terrible ghosts of the past in the trash heap of history. That's where they belong."
