The Democrats may have lost a potential candidate for California governor this week, when it was announced that former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has been hired by Edelman Global Public Affairs, a giant in the public relations field.
Villaraigosa was president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and chairman of the 2012 Democratic National Convention in June. He had said he was interested in a run for governor,
The San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Villaraigosa also recently has joined the Bipartisan Policy Center, a Washington-based think tank, as a senior fellow.
"Antonio's ability to build coalitions across ideological divides in order to find solutions to some of today’s leading challenges for government and business will be an invaluable resource for our clients as he serves as a strategic counselor,” Edelman Global Public Affairs Chairwoman Katie Burke said of her new hire.
