Liberals are targeting Christianity in America in an effort to tear down the country, and Christians and Republicans should be standing up against it, author and columnist Ann Coulter told Fox News Channel.
"The media, they are the ones who are trying to tear down this country by going directly at the heart of America, which is Christianity," Coulter said Thursday on
Fox News Channel's "The O'Reilly Factor."
"Where are the Christians? And where are the Republicans?"
Coulter slammed Indiana Republican Gov. Mike Pence for backing down on that state's Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Pence called for changes in the law this week after a backlash of critics said it promoted discrimination based on sexual orientation.
"I'm glad this Mike Pence isn't running for president," Coulter said. "They are falling like toy soldiers."
Pence has indicated he might seek the GOP presidential nomination, but his chances were thought to have dropped following his handling of the RFRA controversy.
Coulter noted that the owners of a small town pizza shop in Indiana showed more courage than Christian leaders when they stated publicly their belief that gay marriage is sinful and they wouldn't want to cater a same-sex wedding.
"The one thing every Christian should have is courage," Coulter said. "The most important thing in your life, eternity, is already taken care of. Go out and fight. You are afraid of being sneered at by The New York Times?"
