Anderson Cooper's Talk Show to End After Second Season

Monday, 29 October 2012 04:09 PM EDT

Anderson Cooper's foray into the daytime talk arena, "Anderson Live," will end its run after its current second season, a spokeswoman for Warner Bros. - which distributes the syndicated show - told TheWrap on Monday.

"We are extremely proud of Anderson and the show that he and the entire production team have produced," the spokeswoman said. "While we made significant changes to the format, set and produced it live in its second season, the series will not be coming back for a third season in a marketplace that has become increasingly difficult to break through."

The spokeswoman added. "We will continue to deliver top-quality shows throughout next summer."

Cooper added that he was "grateful" for the opportunity to try his hand at daytime talk, noting that he was "very proud" of the show.

"I am very proud of the work that our terrific staff has put into launching and sustaining our show for two seasons. I am also grateful to [production company] Telepictures for giving me the opportunity, and indebted to viewers, who have responded so positively," Cooper said. "I look forward to doing more great shows this season, and though I¹m sorry we won't be continuing, I have truly enjoyed it."

The show, which premiered last September as "Anderson," struggled to catch fire, and returned for a second season amid a highly competitive landscape that saw the launch of new talk shows from Katie Couric, Ricki Lake and Jeff Probst. The show underwent a revamp for its second season, including a new name, a live format, revolving co-hosts and a venue change to the CBS Broadcast Center in New York, from its previous home of Jazz at Lincoln Center's The Allen Room, which is located in New York's Time Warner Center.
