Alicia Machado, who won the Miss Universe crown in 1996, tells
"Inside Edition" in an interview to air Thursday night that Donald Trump publicly and privately ridiculed her for gaining weight.
Machado was 19 in 1996 when she competed for Miss Universe as Miss Venezuela. She gained weight after winning, and Trump, who owned the pageant publicly, talked about the issue with radio shock jock Howard Stern and had the media take pictures of her working out in a gym to lose the weight.
Trump called Machado an "eating machine" at the time. "She weighed 118 pounds or 117 pounds and she went to 160 or 170. So this is somebody that likes to eat."
In private, "He called me Miss Piggy," Machado told "Inside Edition." "I was very depressed in that moment."
Trump also made fun of her ability to speak English, she said, dubbing her "Miss Houskeeping."
Machado said as a result of Trump's treatment she has struggled with weight issues and eating disorders for years, and said Trump bullied her "all the time.
"For sure he is not a good person," she said.
Machado will become an American citizen in time to vote in November's presidential election,
Politico reports, but laughed when asked if she will be casting her ballot for the presumptive Republican nominee.
Trump was the subject of a
New York Times article last weekend saying he has long mistreated women, but many of those quoted have since said the Times did not accurately portray their feelings, and that they have no ill feelings toward him.
