Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden took to Twitter on Wednesday to declare that President Donald Trump "must be impeached" after testimony by top Ukrainian expert Alexander Vindman the day before.
"Lt. Col. Alexander S. Vindman's testimony made clear what we already knew," Biden said on Twitter. "Donald Trump pressured Ukraine to interfere in our elections on his behalf and the White House tried to cover it up.
"We cannot let Trump get away with this abuse of power," the former vice president said. "He must be impeached."
Vindman, 44, reportedly told House committees that President Trump personally blocked nearly $400 million in Ukrainian aid in lieu of a public announcement by Kyiv of an investigation into former Biden and his son, Hunter.
He also reportedly testified that he believed a quid pro quo was in place as early as July 10, when U.S. and Ukrainian officials met at the White House.
President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy talked July 25 — and the call is the basis of the Democratic impeachment inquiry.
The president has repeatedly attacked the probe as a "witch hunt' and a "sham."
