Dick Van Dyke has revealed he barely managed to escape his Malibu mansion that was hit by raging wildfire.
The iconic actor, 98, explained to "Today" on Thursday that he could see the fire, which has been burning through Southern California, "coming from the hill."
"And oh my God, and we got out of here," he said. "I was trying to crawl to the car, I had exhausted myself, I couldn't get up."
It was Van Dyke's neighbors that rescued him from being hurt or killed by the fires.
"Three neighbors came and carried me out and came back and put out a little fire in the guest house and saved me," he said.
Van Dyke revealed Tuesday that he and wife, Arlene Silver fled their home to safety but in all the chaos, were forced to leave their beloved cat behind.
"Arlene and I have safely evacuated with our animals except for Bobo escaped as we were leaving," he wrote in a Facebook post.
"We're praying he'll be OK and that our community in Serra Retreat will survive these terrible fires."
Van Dyke shared Thursday the cat had been found and reunited with its family.
"We found Bobo as soon as we arrived back home this morning. There was so much interest in his disappearance that Animal Control was called in to assist. But, thankfully he was easy to find and not harmed," he wrote.
His post prompted rock band Coldplay to reach out.
"Dick – we're sending love and prayers to you, Arlene and everyone affected by these fires," the band wrote. "Call us if there's anything we can do. Love Phil, Chris, Guy, Jonny, and Will."
The Franklin Fire, initially reported as a small brushfire around 10:45 p.m. Monday, quickly escalated into a massive blaze, crossing the Pacific Coast Highway and reaching the ocean, triggering mandatory evacuations.
The New York Post obtained images showing Van Dyke's home still standing after the fire. Cher's mansion was also spared, though some neighboring homes were destroyed. The 78-year-old "Believe" singer evacuated with her pets Monday night.
