On the heels of new polls showing the presidential race up for grabs, political strategist Dick Morris predicted again Monday that Republican nominee Mitt Romney would win in a landslide over President Barack Obama on Nov. 6.
Speaking with Fox News' Sean Hannity, the former adviser to President Bill Clinton said Obama actually lost the race months ago when his political team made "a fundamental strategic error" by deciding to run "a character assassination" campaign against Romney.
The problem for Obama, Morris said, is the "real Mitt Romney" showed up at the first debate and managed to convince voters that he is not "a monster, that he's not a miscreant, that he doesn't love putting people out of work," as the Democrats have portrayed him.
"He has a heart and has a brain," Morris said, "and that dispelled the image which Obama had placed all of his hopes in."
Morris, now a columnist and Fox News contributor, said if Romney "simply continues to be the same man that he was two weeks ago — not different, not any better — but just the same guy . . . this momentum will continue."
"I've said for the last nine months, and I say it again tonight, this election will be a landslide for Romney," Morris said.
