One doesn’t have to be pre-security clearance revocation John Brennan to know any event sponsored by the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, in conjunction with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People and held at the UN is not going to be a pep rally for Israel and its continued existence.
What’s surprising is a CNN-affiliated speaker would use the event as a platform to seemingly call for the elimination of Israel.
Fox News reports — we’re sure with a great deal of relish — that CNN has fired commentator Marc Lamont Hill “after he gave a speech at the United Nations in which he used language critics describe as a dog whistle advocating the elimination of Israel.”
When asked, a spokesperson for the Creating the News Network told Fox, “Marc Lamont Hill is no longer under contract with CNN.”
Hill’s entire speech dripped, no pun intended, with animus for the Jewish state. “At one point, Hill poured himself some water and told participants that he just got off a flight from ‘Palestine’ and that ‘I was boycotting the Israeli water so I was unable to quench my thirst.’”
Naturally the blood-thirsty crowd lapped it up, so to speak.
In addition to rabble-rousing on CNN, Hill is also a professor of media studies and urban education at Temple University in Philadelphia.
Hill’s diatribe against Israel was filled with veiled calls for violence. “If we are standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people, we must recognize the right of an occupied people to defend itself. We must prioritize peace, but we must not romanticize or fetishize it.”
Naturally, once the content of the speech leaked to the world at large, Hill tried to cover his tracks. Instead of calling for outright violence, he shifted to the call to defeat Israel through demographics by allowing millions of Arab “refugees” the “right to return” to a country in which they have never, ever lived. It’s a strategy that mimics that of the left here in the U.S. that seeks to alter the electorate through mass legal and illegal immigration.
Hill is lying about the meaning of his words and he knows it. As Anne Bayefsky, director of the Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust and president of Human Rights Voices, said, “Hill's call at the United Nations for the destruction of the Jewish state was not some accident. He didn't misspeak. He was an invited guest. He was the only person invited to speak as ‘the’ representative of ‘civil society.’ When he ended his extraordinary tirade with ‘Give us a free Palestine from the river to the sea’ his words were met by a round of applause. The only applause for any speaker.”
While Hill was basking in the adulation of Israel-haters, little did he know his call for eliminating the “Jewish state” was also his resignation from CNN.
