Iran's Mullahs Slam Zimmerman Verdict

Iran’s mullahs have inadvertently helped the cause of sanity here in the United States. Last Friday, as reported by the Washington Free Beacon, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Seyed Abbas Araqchi blasted the verdict in George Zimmerman trial and declared, “The acquittal of the murderer of the teenage African American once again clearly demonstrated the unwritten, but systematic racial discrimination against racial, religious, and ethnic minorities in the U.S. society.”

When one remembers that in Iran the Christians, Sunni Muslims, “moderate” Muslims, and any believers of a religion other than Shiite Islam face a level of official oppression that makes even second-class citizenship look like a promotion; it renders Iranian complaints regarding U.S. justice null and void.

Araqchi added, “The court ruling has also seriously put under question the fairness of the judicial process in the United States” and he added the trial should have been more “accurate and fair.” This comment was no doubt based on the official Iranian position that no judicial proceeding that does not feature at least one gavel-wielding fanatic in a turban can possibly be legitimate.

Just as the commentary regarding the Zimmerman trial on “news” organizations like MSNBC has been logic free, this statement issues from an irony-free zone in Iran. While here in the U.S. it is common for defendants to be put on trial for beating other citizens, in Iran the authorities dispense with the trial and simply beat regime opponents. These official punching bags include opposition party members, journalists, and students.

It’s entirely possible the Iranians can claim to be “discrimination” free since practically anyone is liable to be beaten at the flick of a secret policeman’s club. And that example doesn’t include the women stoned to death for being accused of adultery or the homosexual teenagers that are executed.

Receiving a trial in Iran is no guarantee of humane treatment either. In the Iranian Islamic police state criminal law and criminal punishment is based upon Shariah law. It is not unusual for petty criminals to have arms or legs amputated as punishment after conviction.

In fact, to call Iranian courts kangaroo justice is to offend zoo denizens worldwide.

Thanks to this latest observation from Iran, those thinking Americans who were still on the fence regarding the outcome of the trial — even though the “Rev.” Al Sharpton was already demagoguing against it — should now have no doubt the verdict was correct.
