The response of California’s ruling leftist political class to the leftist-created homeless takeover of urban areas in the ‘Gimme State’ usually boils down to “Hey! I’m not the one sleeping and pooping on the sidewalk!”
Followed by a nifty blame-shift to someone else.
Congresswoman Maxine Waters — known for braying about impeaching President Trump months before Adam Shifty got around to it — has lately decided the homeless problem in her district is the fault of Donald Trump.
It seems that when he wasn’t conspiring with Russia’s Vladimir Putin to steal the election from Hillary, Trump was busy throwing people out of their houses and on to the street. Redstate.com found in October that Waters wrote the president accusing him of working to make the homelessness problem worse.
She began the letter in her usual measured fashion, “Your shamelessness knows no bounds.” And from there she went on to impugn his motives for doing something about a problem she had ignored. Waters gets away with these antics because she’s black and if anyone points out her multiple lies and exaggerations, she counters with the first refuge of the scoundrel — the cry of “Racist!”
HUD Sec. Ben Carson, being black himself, is immune to false accusations of racism and he wasn’t going to take Waters’ intemperate letter and routine hypocrisy sitting down.
Redstate also obtained a copy of Carson’s letter and it makes for illuminating reading. Carson lists a number of facts that turn Waters’ charges back on her.
“Shamelessness is a career politician of 30 years laying blame,” Carson began. And then he went into detail.
“Shamelessness is allowing more than 55,000 Americans to live on the very streets they represent,” Carson added, referring to the homeless population of Los Angeles city and county.
“To me, the most compassionate, obvious, and logical solution would be to get as many homeless Americans off the streets — with a roof over their heads — as soon as humanly possible,” he said.
“I have sent multiple letters to your office and requested numerous meetings, but each time you’ve refused,” Carson wrote. “Basic manners elude you and it seems that instead of producing results, you’re more interested in producing cheap headlines at the President’s expense — like a true career politician.”
No wonder the president likes Ben Carson. Carson is not afraid to stand up to leftist bullies and their ‘Amen Chorus’ in the Opposition Media. Waters’ idea of fighting homelessness is throwing money at the problem. In her case another $13 billion to go along with the $1 billion LA County taxpayers are already spending.
That avalanche of money is a job creation and job sustaining program for the Compassion Complex that reflexively votes Democrat. If the odd homeless person is helped as a byproduct, that’s fine, but it’s not the point.
Waters’ 'compassion' for the homeless is as false as her attacks on the president.
