As this is written, Trip Advisor offers information regarding five "Walking Dead" tours that ghoulish tourists can (what’s the word?) enjoy, endure, or escape. At the top of the list is the "Walking Dead" Filming Location Tour where it’s possible to visit Haralson, Georgia, the site where many of the show’s episodes were filmed.
Then there is the "Walking Dead" video game where you can pixelate zombies from the comfort of the couch. A bit more active than video gaming are the tips for putting on your own "Walking Dead" party. Sure to be a big event around Halloween.
In Taylorsville, North Carolina, there is even a "Walking Dead" paintball game where, in an exciting but inaccurate twist, the zombies shoot back.
Some of that sounds fun, but it’s hard to forget the experience is make believe. San Francisco resident Gilles DeSaulniers can top all of the above. His "Walking Dead" experience was real, dangerous, and he didn’t have to travel for the experience.
DeSaulniers told Tucker Carlson about his run-in with a zombie-fied homeless person who bit him on the arm when DeSaulniers tried to get the derelict to leave his business. “The last event, it was a guy who came in and we asked him to leave, and he left. He came back 15 minutes later to harass the employee.”
During the wait for the arrival of the police, DeSaulniers and the staff tried to subdue the man. Unfortunately for Gilles — and many of the bit players in the "Walking Dead" — he got too close to the man’s mouth and he was bitten so severely it left him with muscle damage in his arm.
What makes this story even more incredible is this isn’t the first time DeSaulniers was bitten by one of the homeless plaguing the city. “He said he was previously bitten by a ‘drugged-out’ woman coming in off the street.”
It’s extraordinary that in the 21st Century USA business owners are bitten by homeless people infesting the sidewalks of the city. And it’s even more extraordinary that the politicians in city hall who all claim to be leaders are allowing it to happen.
There is no rational justification for allowing thousands of homeless to attack law-abiding citizens, appropriate public space for their own private use, blatantly use dangerous drugs in public, create a health crisis featuring diseases not seen there since the 19th Century and pollute formerly clean areas in the city.
City Hall would never allow a private business to conduct itself the way the homeless do routinely without consequence. And speaking of consequence, why are there no consequences for politicians who’ve turned downtown into a sewer?
The "Walking Dead" is a fictional production. The streets of San Francisco are a shocking reality. Why do voters there continue to tolerate the intolerable?
