Voters believe Donald Trump would do a better job in the White House than Hillary Clinton when it comes to creating jobs, managing the economy and taxes, and national security, a new Zogby Analytics poll finds.

In a Forbes magazine summary, pollster John Zogby reports the survey of 843 voters last week shows "Clinton has an uphill battle convincing general election voters that she is the right person for the job of President of the United States."

On the issue of job creation, for examples, Zogby writes, voters favor Trump 46 percent to 30 percent; on the economy, he leads Clinton 46 percent to 32 percent, and Trump is viewed as stronger on taxes by 43 percent to Clinton's 30 percent in the polling.

And on all three issues, Zogby writes, the real estate billionaire is preferred over Clinton by men, women and independents.

For example, on jobs creation, Trump beats Clinton among male voters 55-26, women 41-33, independents 46-24 and moderates 42-36.

Though Clinton polls better with Hispanics on jobs, with 45 percent, Trump still has the support of 37 percent. Clinton polls with 56 percent support among black voters on jobs, compared with Trump's 23 percent.

"Overall, the same is true on the economy," Zogby writes, noting Trump "is ahead among men and women" 52-31, and women, 41-34, and "simply wallops her among independents," with 45 percent to her 23 percent.

"On the economy he is weak among Hispanics (only 4 percent  think he is more fit than the former Secretary of State who scores 40 percent ) and African Americans (11 percent to 73 percent)," Zogby reports.

Taxes are also viewed as an area where Trump is stronger with men, women, independents and moderates, Forbes writes.

Although Clinton is viewed as stronger on foreign policy than Trump by 40-32 percent, "she trails him on national security by 10 points," Zogby writes.

Clinton's strongest areas, according to Zogby, are the environment, where she polls 40-23 over Trump, and on income inequality, where she leads Trump 37-29.

"On the always important issue of 'understanding people like you and me' she is tied with Mr. Trump 32 percent to his 31 percent," Zogby writes.

"Over one in four (26 percent ) say neither candidate. This is a bad omen for both Mr. Clinton and the Democratic Party because the perception of helping people like me has always been the party’s ace in the hole," he adds.

On abortion, Clinton has 39 percent support compared with Trump's 24 percent; 21 percent say neither.

The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.
