Ex-Planned Parenthood Leader: 'Game Over' for Trump If Women Turn Out to Vote

If 58% of voters are women on Election Day in November, it’s “game over” for President Donald Trump, according to a former Planned Parenthood leader.

In an interview Thursday night on MSNBC, Cecile Richards, the co-founder of Supermajority, which promotes women’s activism, said women are fired up to unseat Trump.

"If 58% of the voters next fall are women, it's game over. It's going to change the direction," the former Planned Parenthood president asserted, noting that the same percentage of caucus-goers in Iowa were women.

"They don't make it easy for women to participate in the caucus system, so if you look at that, then look at who's showing up to vote, who's showing up to block-walk, phone-bank, that's what we're seeing at Supermajority," she said.

She said she believes there’s an "enormous divide" in the nation, in which many women see Trump as someone who "disrespects women," including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. She most recently came under fire from the president after she ripped up his State of the Union speech moments after he delivered it on Tuesday night. Pelosi also spearheaded the House drive to impeach Trump, though the effort was thwarted by a Senate acquittal on Wednesday.

"As we saw the other night at the State of the Union, he repeatedly lies about the state of women in this country after he's tried to take away maternity benefits, he's tried to repeal protection for pre-existing positions, so many things that women face every day."

"I think that's why you're seeing women so motivated right now to be involved in politics and voting," she said.

Richards said women also have to be concerned about "the fear of losing access to health care, which is a women's issue."
