Feminists: 'White Women' to Blame for Wendy Davis Loss in Texas

By    |   Thursday, 06 November 2014 09:15 PM EST

Republican Greg Abbott won a landslide victory the Texas gubernatorial election, defeating his Democratic opponent Wendy Davis 59 percent to 39 percent.

Although Davis is a feminist icon because of her advocacy of abortion rights, she lost the female vote to Abbott by 5 points. Polling data shows women's votes for governor were sharply divided along racial and ethnic lines, with 94 percent of black women and 61 percent of Latinas voting for Davis, but only 32 percent of white women supporting her.

The Daily Caller reports that feminists, angered by the refusal of white women to vote for Davis, have taken to the Internet to vent their frustration. A pro-abortion-rights blog called RH Reality Check published an op-ed entitled "White Women: Let’s Get Our **** Together."

Another blogger blamed "married white women" who "failed Wendy Davis—and ourselves, and our families, and Texas families," the Caller reported.

The blog RedState contains a compilation of tweets from people incensed over the voting patterns of white women. One profanity-filled message was retweeted 622 times as of Wednesday.

Others declared that "White women in Texas obviously prefer subservient existence 2 freedom and liberty" and "White women in Texas are taught that a woman's role is barefoot and pregnant over a stove from the time they're born."

"Talk about self-hatred and loathing. White women in Texas have perfected the syndrome!" read another, RedState reports.
