The Washington Post will publish a book about Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe.
“The Apprentice: Trump, Russia, and the Subversion of American Democracy,” will be published Oct. 2 by Custom House, an imprint of Harper Collins, according to the newspaper.
“No other book has covered the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election with greater scope and determination to get to the truth,” Custom House said in a release, The Hill reported.
Washington Post national security correspondent Greg Miller will be the book’s main author, with Post journalists from the national, foreign, business, and local desks contributing.
“Every time something happens, we are folding new details in… every Mueller indictment has had new information in it that gives us a deeper understanding of the events during the election, so all of that is incorporated in real time,” said Miller.
Most of the book draws from interviews with sources close to President Donald Trump, Mueller, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and fired FBI director James Comey, he added.
The title of the book refers to Trump’s NBC reality show, “The Apprentice,” while also noting his performance as president, Miller said.
“He’s an apprentice in terms of his lack of preparation for the job, the extent to which he’s learning in office — or not learning, in some cases,” Miller said.
