The House approved two measures Thursday aimed at curbing President Donald Trump's power to attack Iran, Roll Call is reporting.

Both measures passed with bipartisan votes.

House members voted 236-166 to approve an amendment from Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif. that would repeal the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq. That authorization had been cited by the Trump administration as partial legal justification for the drone attack that killed Iran's Gen. Qassem Soleimani earlier this month.

Roll Call noted 11 Republican House members voted for the amendment, while two Democrats opposed it.

Lawmakers also voted 228-175 to agree to an amendment that would deny the Pentagon money to carry out any unauthorized military moves against Iran. That amendment, introduced by Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., was supported by four Republicans.

"This amendment does nothing, nothing to restrict" Trump's ability to protect American interests and American allies, Khanna said during floor debate for his bill, which has nearly 100 Democratic co-sponsors but no Republicans. "It gives him all of the powers of the War Power Resolution. If we are hit, he has every authority to act."

Both amendments were attacked to a World War II medals bill. It now goes to the Senate where it is facing uncertain floor prospects, according to Roll Call.
