Omarosa Manigault Newman on Monday told The Wall Street Journal she is not deterred by legal actions over her release of audiotapes during her time at the White House, and said she will spend the remainder of the midterm cycle presenting her case against President Donald Trump.

"I'm going to continue to blow the whistle about the things I saw," said the former White House aide, adding "hopefully we can save the essence of the presidency without the president doing way too much damage to it."

Manigault Newman joined the Trump campaign as the Director of African American Outreach during the 2016 Republican National Convention and served in a communications role in Trump's administration until she was fired by chief of staff John Kelly last December after just one year in her position.

In her book, "Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House," Manigault Newman made explosive claims about Trump, including that he is a racist and in mental decline. During her press tour last week, Manigault Newman also accused the Trump campaign of trying to buy her silence, and played several secret audio recordings she made during her time in the White House.

Trump has lashed out at her as "Wacky Omarosa," and his campaign said it had filed for arbitration, accusing her of breaching a 2016 nondisclosure agreement with the campaign.
