Lt. Col. Ralph Peters Insists Putin Is Controlling Trump

Retired Army Lt. Col. Ralph Peters alleged Wednesday night that President Donald Trump is being controlled by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Peters appeared on CNN and told host Anderson Cooper he is sure Putin has Trump in his "grip."

"I am convinced that Vladimir Putin has a grip on President Trump," Peters said. "When I first learned of the Steele dossier, it just rang true to me. Because that's how the Russians do things.

"And before he became a candidate for president, Donald Trump was the perfect target for Russian intelligence. Here is someone who has no self-control, a sense of sexual entitlement, and intermittent financial crises. That's made to order for seduction by Russian intelligence. I may be wrong. I hope I am wrong. I hope Putin doesn't have a grip on him."

Mediaite posted a clip of Peters' remarks.

The Department of Justice is currently investigating whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia. No evidence has been made public that suggests that was the case, and Trump insists his campaign did not work with the Russians to defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

"When you look at Trump's behavior patterns . . . How can you not draw the conclusion that Donald Trump, the president of the United States, is frightened of Vladimir Putin and his grip?" Peters said.
