A White House official says President Donald Trump has "full confidence" in National Security Adviser Michael Flynn following reports that he discussed sanctions with Russia's ambassador to the U.S. after the election.
Trump advisers, including Vice President Mike Pence, previously said Flynn did not talk about the sanctions in his conversations with the Russian envoy. But the official said Flynn now says that while he does not recall talking about sanctions, he can't guarantee the matter did not come up.
A second administration official says Flynn and Pence spoke in person Friday morning.
The officials were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and insisted on anonymity.
Trump told reporters traveling Friday on Air Force One that he had not seen a Washington Post report saying Flynn had discussed sanctions with the Russian ambassador.
Trump told reporters, "I don't know about it. I haven't seen it. What report is that?"
