The United States has sent the largest American air and naval strike force since the Iraq war to Syria, The Times of London reports.
The U.S. will muster ten warships and two submarines, including the USS Harry S Truman aircraft carrier with 90 aircraft and five escort ships, in the Mediterranean and Gulf regions. President Donald Trump warned on Twitter this week that a retaliatory strike "will be coming" after Syria allegedly used chemical weapons in Douma.
"Following a discussion in which every member present made a contribution, the Cabinet agreed it was vital that the use of chemical weapons did not go unchallenged," read a statement from UK Prime Minister Theresa May’s Cabinet.
The "Cabinet agreed on the need to take action to alleviate humanitarian distress and to deter the further use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime. Cabinet agreed the prime minister should continue to work with allies in the United States and France to coordinate an international response."
