President Donald Trump will talk about the expansion of trade with the United Kingdom when British Prime Minister Theresa May visits Washington on Friday, press secretary Sean Spicer said.

The sit-down will be Trump's first with a foreign leader since he took office.

"I'm sure that there will be a discussion of trade . . . the degree to which I don't know yet," Spicer said at a packed news briefing Monday. "He's going to have a great conversation about the potential for greater trade with the U.K."

"I think we've always had that special relationship with Britain and that will reflect in the conversation there," Spicer added. "We can always be closer."

Though he referred to May as "the head of state," the U.K.-based Independent noted that title is one that is held by the Queen of England.

According to the Independent, "there is huge pressure" on May to expand trade with the United States in the wake of its Brexit referendum, which will necessitate re-negotiation of trade with every European country and around the world.
