President Donald Trump hailed the decision to drop the criminal case against his former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn as a “big day for justice” in the United States.

Trump made his comments in a tweet posted Friday morning.

He wrote: “Yesterday was a BIG day for Justice in the USA. Congratulations to General Flynn, and many others. I do believe there is MUCH more to come! Dirty Cops and Crooked Politicians do not go well together!”

And in another tweet he added: “DRAIN THE SWAMP!”

Trump did not provide any details about his belief that there’s more to come.

Prosecutors in the case had maintained that Flynn had lied to the FBI about his conversations with the Russian ambassador in a January 2017 interview.

But the Justice Department said Thursday it had found that Flynn’s interview by the FBI was “untethered to, and unjustified by, the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into Mr. Flynn.”

It noted the interview on January 24, 2017 was “conducted without any legitimate investigative basis.”

The decision to drop the charge came amid an internal review into the handling of the case.
