Scaramucci: Fox Host's Call for Ryan's Resignation Was 'Coincidence'

CNN's "New Day"

President Donald Trump's tweeted suggestion to watch Judge Jeanine Pirro was unrelated to her call for House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., to step down, according to one of the president's informal advisers.

Trump tweeted Saturday about Pirro's show:

Pirro, a former prosecutor, said in her opening statement, "Paul Ryan needs to step down."

Transition team member Anthony Scaramucci told CNN that Trump had no idea Pirro would demand Ryan resign.

"It's a coincidence," he said. "Jeanine said last night on her show they didn't talk about that, and she's a very honest person. I think it's a coincidence."

Trump "likes her a lot and he was promoting her show."

Pirro added on her show, Ryan "failed to deliver the votes on his healthcare bill. . . . The one that he had seven years to work on. . . . The one that had to be pulled to prevent the embarrassment of not having enough votes to pass."

She later said, "I want to be clear. This is not on President Trump. No one expected a businessman to completely understand the nuances, the complicated ins and outs of Washington and its legislative process."
