President Donald Trump on Thursday retweeted a message from his re-election campaign's account that included a link to a news article containing the alleged name of the whistleblower, whose letter led to the House impeachment inquiry against him, in its headline.

"It's pretty simple," the message Trump retweeted said. "The CIA 'whistleblower' is not a whistleblower!"

No major news agency has named the whistleblower, notes Haaretz, and Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, the Senate's president pro tempore, has said that the whistleblower's name must be kept private to protect the person's safety.

Trump, while in Florida for the Christmas holiday, continued to lash out while his Senate impeachment trial remains on hold as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi continues to refuse to send articles of impeachment against him to the Senate.

"She hates the Republican Party. She hates all of the people that voted for me and the Republican Party," Trump said on Christmas Eve. "She's doing a tremendous disservice to the country."

Pelosi says she is waiting to send the articles until she knows more about what the Senate trial will look like. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who does not favor calling new witnesses to testify, said Monday that Republicans haven't ruled that out.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, however, wants to call in four witnesses to testify, including former national security adviser John Bolton and acting White House chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney.
