Donald Trump said he believes President Barack Obama doesn't have the strength to defeat terror attacks nor does he have "competitive zeal," during an interview on
Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor."
When asked by host Bill O'Reilly why Obama's response to terror attacks has not been more aggressive, Trump replied, "I have absolutely no idea.
"Why he doesn't fight it, why he doesn't fight it with strength and vigor, nobody knows. That's certainly a topic of conversation," Trump said.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee added that Obama's temperament is a sticking point with him.
"Nobody knows why he doesn't have more anger, why he doesn't have more competitive zeal. He's a competitive person. Why doesn't he have competitive zeal to knock them out?
"We need a president that's going to show passion. It's almost like he's falling asleep," Trump said.
Earlier, Trump appeared on the "Today" show and claimed that Obama may be refusing to address the terror issue because of an ulterior motive. "There are a lot of people who think maybe he doesn't want to get it. A lot of people think he doesn't want to know about it," he said,
The Hill reports.
Josh Earnest, Obama's press secretary, dismissed Trump's claims and defended Obama's record, according to
USA Today.
"If you look at the president's record, it speaks for itself, and that record includes a lot of dead terrorists," Earnest said.
