Trump on Korean News: 'We Will See What Happens!'

Tuesday, 06 March 2018 09:24 AM EST

President Donald Trump issued a lukewarm response Tuesday to reports of progress in talks between North Korea and South Korea.

He reacted with a tweet just after 8 a.m. E.T., not long after South Korea reported that North Korea had promised a nuclear moratorium and was conditionally open to denuclearization. His tweet, which was linked to an outdated, day-old news report, said, "We will see what happens!'

About an hour later, he offered a more detailed response, referring to "possible progress being made" and noting that "the U.S. is ready to go hard" on the issue.
