The Democrat-led House Foreign Affairs Committee reminded President Donald Trump on Twitter that he is "not a dictator" in a weekend post.

Responding to a Trump tweet about Iran in the wake of a U.S. missile strike that killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the panel wrote: "This Media Post will serve as a reminder that war powers reside in the Congress under the United States Constitution. And that you should read the War Powers Act. And that you're not a dictator."

The tweet came after Trump wrote: "These Media Posts will serve as notification to the United States Congress that should Iran strike any U.S. person or target, the United States will quickly & fully strike back, & perhaps in a disproportionate manner. Such legal notice is not required, but is given nevertheless!"

Trump authorized the drone strike that killed Soleimani after he arrived at Baghdad International Airport on Friday. Soleimani led Iran's Quds Force, which handles military and spying operations in foreign countries, before his death.

Congressional leaders were not informed of the drone strike ahead of time, which has caused Democrats to cry foul.
