President Donald Trump on Friday thanked "Republican warriors" for defending him during the impeachment inquiry and claimed that Democrats "have no case at all."
Calling the Republican House members' performance Thursday "fantastic," Trump tweeted early Friday morning, "It always helps to have a much better case, in fact the Dems have no case at all, but the unity & sheer brilliance of these Republican warriors, all of them, was a beautiful sight to see. Dems had no answers and wanted out!"
The Judiciary Committee hearing on Thursday lasted more than 14 hours and involved the two articles of impeachment that Democrats have drafted to charge Trump with abuse of power and obstructing Congress. Chairman Jerry Nadler announced Thursday night that the panel would not vote on the articles until 10 a.m. Friday.
Trump added later Friday morning: "Poll numbers have gone through the roof in favor of No Impeachment, especially with Swing States and Independents in Swing States. People have figured out that the Democrats have no case, it is a total Hoax. Even Pelosi admitted yesterday that she began this scam 2 1/2 years ago!"
The Hill notes that most polls on impeachment show that Americans are firmly divided on the subject.
