Trump: Hillary 'Has Less Energy Than Jeb Bush'

By    |   Wednesday, 26 October 2016 07:50 PM EDT

Donald Trump took a swipe at former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush on Wednesday for not supporting his presidential campaign despite signing a pledge to do so.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, made the remarks during a campaign event in Charlotte, N.C. He first criticized Democrat Hillary Clinton before parlaying it into a shot at Bush, one of his primary rivals.

"Hillary said, 'Donald Trump took time off the campaign.' Can you believe it?" Trump said, according to Politico. "Here's a woman who goes home and she goes to sleep all the time. Think of it. She's got no energy whatsoever.

"I got home at 1 o'clock in the morning. Here's a woman, she makes a speech for 15 minutes, she goes home, goes to bed. Honestly, she has less energy than Jeb Bush. I mean it. I mean it."

Trump then referenced the pledge all of the GOP presidential candidates were asked to sign, which said they would support whoever became the party's nominee for election day.

"He's open game," Trump said of Bush. "So he signed the pledge, right? But he didn't honor it. How do you — how do you live with yourself, you know?"

Four of Trump's 16 primary challengers have not endorsed him: Bush, Sen. Lindsey Graham, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and former New York Gov. George Pataki. Trump spoke about that during a radio interview in Florida Tuesday.

"They signed these really, really powerful pledges," Trump said. "They didn't back — and, you know, I don't know how they live with themselves in one way, because they have to live with themselves. When they have to run sometime in the future, I think it would be very difficult for them."
